Different aesthetics explained from my point of view

Different aesthetics can be hard to understand. But don't worry, I'm here to help break it down for you! Aesthetics are all about beauty and art, and many different styles and movements fall under this category. Let's explore a few of them from a former 7th grader's (aka me) point of view.

1. Minimalism: This aesthetic is all about keeping things simple and clean. It's like when you clean your room and everything is neatly organized and clutter-free. Minimalism is about using only what you need and appreciating the beauty in simplicity. You might have heard "Less is More" which is exactly what minimalism means.

2. Vintage: Vintage aesthetics are all about bringing back the styles and trends of the past. It's like raiding your parents' or grandparents' closets and finding cool clothes and accessories from a different era. Vintage aesthetics celebrate the fashion and trends of bygone years.

3. Kawaii: This aesthetic comes from Japanese culture and is all about cute things. Think of fluffy animals, pastel colors, and anything that makes you say "Aww." Kawaii is all about spreading happiness and positivity through cuteness.

4. Grunge: Grunge is the complete opposite of kawaii. It's all about being edgy, rebellious, and non-conformist. Think of ripped jeans, band t-shirts, and a "don't care" attitude. Grunge is about embracing imperfections and standing out from the crowd.

The closest I could get to grunge without
having cuss words or inappropriate content :)

5. Bohemian: The bohemian aesthetic is all about free-spiritedness and individuality. It's like wearing flowy skirts, floral patterns, and lots of accessories like headbands and layered jewelry. Bohemian style is about embracing nature and expressing your unique personality through your fashion choices.

6. Cyberpunk: This aesthetic is all about a futuristic, dystopian world filled with advanced technology and urban decay. Think of neon lights, futuristic fashion, and a gritty, industrial feel. Cyberpunk aesthetics often explore themes of rebellion and the impact of technology on society.

7. Art Deco: Art Deco aesthetics are inspired by the 1920s and 1930s and are characterized by sleek lines, geometric shapes, and lavish ornamentation. This aesthetic can be seen in architecture, fashion, and visual arts, and it exudes a sense of luxury and modernity.

8. Cottagecore: Cottagecore is a romanticized aesthetic that celebrates a simple, rural life surrounded by nature. It's all about cozy cottages, flower gardens, vintage dresses, and a deep appreciation for the countryside and traditional crafts. Cottagecore aesthetic often evokes a sense of nostalgia and connection to the natural world.

9. Streetwear: Streetwear aesthetics are heavily influenced by urban culture, hip-hop, and skateboarding. It's all about casual, comfortable clothing with a focus on bold logos, graphic tees, and athletic influences. Streetwear is often associated with youth culture and a sense of rebellion against traditional fashion norms.

10. Surrealism: Surrealism is an artistic and literary movement that seeks to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind. Surrealist aesthetics often feature dreamlike imagery, unexpected juxtapositions, and a sense of mystery and ambiguity. This aesthetic encourages viewers to question reality and explore the depths of their imagination.

Remember, the world of aesthetics is vast and diverse, and there's no limit to the styles and movements you can explore. Whether you're drawn to one of these aesthetics or something completely different, the most important thing is to embrace what resonates with you and allows you to express your unique identity.

These are just a few examples of different aesthetics, and there are many more out there to explore. Remember, aesthetics are all about personal expression and finding beauty in the world around you. So, whether you're drawn to minimalism, vintage, kawaii, grunge, bohemian, or something else entirely, embrace what makes you feel happy and confident! Or you can have a bit of all aesthetics in your life, like me!
